The Shakeout Podcast: Big or Small, parkrun is for All

shakeout

This week we were featured in the ‘Shakeout Podcast’.  The podcast is put together by Canadian Running Magazine and features weekly running news and full episode stories.  We were fortunate to have a full episode to ourselves as presenter Joan Chung guides us through her first experiences of parkrun by talking to Cambridge organisers and runners, parkrun Founder Paul Sinton Hewitt, and Canada Country Manager Euan Bowman.

parkrun is a weekly, free, timed 5K run in a park. This all sounds like nothing out of the ordinary. There are, after all, people running in parks all the time, either alone, with friends, or as part of a club or a team.

It may come as a surprise then that internationally, parkrun is extremely popular. Since 2004, there have been over 200,000 events worldwide, including in countries such as Australia, Germany, France, Russia, and from its country of origin, the United Kingdom. ”
