It’s really wonderful hearing where parkrunners have traveled to with so many different parkruns around the world and there’s a growing number of parkrunners who are now on ‘the list’ . You can check the ‘most events’ list on the parkrun NZ website and Yvonne Tse of Lower Hutt has now clocked up 10 (and counting)!
Thought I would write a short post about the parkruns I have participated in while I have been out of NZ for a few weeks. I completed parkruns at Fælledparken (Copenhagen), Oxford and at the West Coast of Singapore. Fælledparken and Oxford (run in Cutteslowe Park) are both three lap courses, predominately on gravel, with the latter beginning with a couple of small laps on a grass field before heading out around the park.
Singapore’s West Coast parkrun is a figure 8 on sealed pavement/road, and probably a fast course for those that can handle the heat! Each well organised and marshaled. Met some excellent folks. The pic above is of me at the finish line of the West Coast Park parkrun in Singapore. Temp was 28 degrees, ‘feels like’ 33 degrees. Surprisingly didn’t die, didn’t post a ‘personal worst’ and actually passed some runners in the last couple of kilometres… I’m expecting to be less of a sweaty mess next time I’m back home and out running at Porirua parkrun! Warren King – Porirua
Made it to my 10th parkrun in New Zealand, Cornwall Park, which was basically part mudslide this morning and what the heck was that hill around the 2.5k mark! Locals were awesome as usual! YvonneTse – Lower Hutt
Great to see our 5 parkrunners today in the wet conditions this morning and one first timer! – Puarenga parkrun
What a great effort by the 5 runners & kudos to the vollies & cameraman to capture such work ethic regardless of the weather! I’m afraid to say which way I would’ve opted for in the rain – Kerry Holder,
Just want to say , as a Whangarei parkrun regular, big shout to your volunteers who turned out this week . Great work all of you! Andy Mears – Whangarei
Dedicated, brave or crazy? I say dedicated, or maybe crazy. Well done all! – Brenda Murphy,
Saturday the 2nd The start point this week in the summer season needs to be in Palmerston North with another big attendance of 175 means that in just 6 weeks 949 parkrunners have completed a run/walk there. The combined total of runners, joggers, walkers and volunteers exceeded 2,000 for the week! (150 volunteers plus…
Just want to give a shout to Dean King who ran at Whangarei this morning, meaning he has now completed 17 of the 18 NZ venues. All being well he will be joining that select group (of many O’Sullivans and a few others!) who have done all 18 in late January when he plans to run…
