Rotorua Marathon/half marathon/quarter marathon (and 5km fun run)

Set against the backdrop of stunning Lake Rotorua, the picturesque Rotorua Marathon is without doubt one of New Zealand’s most iconic sports participation events with over 90,000 runners having completed the unique 42.2km ‘lap of the lake’ since its humble beginnings back in 1965. The event is the oldest and most prestigious marathon in New Zealand and the longest running major marathon in Australasia, and will be in its 54th year in 2018.

Not just a marathon however- Rotorua Marathon offers a distance for everyone with the Half Marathon, 10km and a 5.5km Fun Run!  We’ve also got exciting news for half marathon runners and walkers – following feedback from participants, we’ve got an amazing new course full of Rotorua’s natural charm. The new course has a majority of smooth, unsealed, forest roads, many covered in pine needles with some climbs to a maximum elevation of 120 metres above the start/finish line, which will still be at the Energy Events Centre in the Rotorua Government Gardens. The majority of the course is through a mature pine forest, absolutely stunning!

If you’re planning to run or walk an event in the Rotorua Marathon on Saturday, 5 May 2018 –  we have a special 10% discount for parkrun members which runs right up until 5 May. Standard entry fees finish at the end of March, so Enter Today to avoid paying the late entry fee, and don’t forgot to enter your code parkrun18 to get an additional 10%.
