Running on the Spectrum:

Last year we held our first charity Greatest Virtual Run in April for Autism month and it was a great help that many parkrunners in New Zealand  joined in to help our cause.

This year we are doing it again and the weekend is April 14/15. We have also included a 5km virtual run especially for parkrunners who can combine the two events.

Cost is $25 and all participants receive a cool medal, there are family options too. There are prizes of vouchers for Salming running and lots more. People will be helping Autistic kids around NZ into a running program with new running shoes that will be donated.

Many thanks Jason Reid

Upcoming Events - 5th May 2018

Rotorua Marathon/half marathon/quarter marathon (and 5km fun run)

Set against the backdrop of stunning Lake Rotorua, the picturesque Rotorua Marathon is without doubt one of New Zealand’s most iconic sports participation events with over 90,000 runners having completed the unique 42.2km ‘lap of the lake’ since its humble beginnings back in 1965. The event is the oldest and most prestigious marathon in New Zealand and the longest running major marathon in Australasia, and will be in its 54th year in 2018.

Not just a marathon however- Rotorua Marathon offers a distance for everyone with the Half Marathon, 10km and a 5.5km Fun Run!  We’ve also got exciting news for half marathon runners and walkers – following feedback from participants, we’ve got an amazing new course full of Rotorua’s natural charm. The new course has a majority of smooth, unsealed, forest roads, many covered in pine needles with some climbs to a maximum elevation of 120 metres above the start/finish line, which will still be at the Energy Events Centre in the Rotorua Government Gardens. The majority of the course is through a mature pine forest, absolutely stunning!

If you’re planning to run or walk an event in the Rotorua Marathon on Saturday, 5 May 2018 –  we have a special 10% discount for parkrun members which runs right up until 5 May. Standard entry fees have finished now from the end of March, but Enter Today  and don’t forgot to enter your code parkrun18 to get a  10% dicount.
