The Prattley family profiles

Invercargill family

This week the entire Prattley family of four are featured and what wonderful ambassadors they are for parkrun! Many thanks for your enthusiasm and willingness to give back by volunteering too.

Name: Ruth Prattley

Age: 32

Occupation: Mum / Wife / coffee connoisseur

Home parkrun: Invercargill!

Number of Runs: 13

Number of times volunteered: 5

One thing I love about parkrun is: The time of day it’s on, the personal challenge, the people, the park and getting our whanau involved.

Fave volunteer role: I don’t mind what I do but I enjoy Timekeeping and marshalling so I can help cheer on others!

I volunteer at parkrun because: I enjoy the event, I enjoy cheering on fellow parkrunners and I’m always happy to do my part to keep the event going and free. Helping out once in a while is a great way to contribute.

My most memorable parkrun moment was: The first time I beat my husband to the finish line ;-)

Name: Regan Prattley

Age: 40

Occupation: Sales Rep / Husband / Dad & (bad) ‘dad joke’ teller

Home parkrun: Invercargill

Number of Runs: 11

Number of Times volunteered: 6

Fave volunteer role: Barcode scanner & Marshalling

I volunteer at parkrun because: I like giving my time for others in volunteering roles.

One thing I Love about parkrun is: The parkrun community that we’ve got to know, organisers, fellow parkrunners and fellow volunteers.

My most memorable parkrun moment was: My first parkrun! It was so memorable because it was a bit of a shock to the system having not done anything like it in a long time – a great personal challenge!

Name: Jayden Prattley

Age:  15

Occupation:  Student

Home parkrun: Invercargill

Number of Runs: 4

Number of times I volunteered: 4

Fave volunteer role: Marshal

I volunteer at parkrun because: Because it’s good to give back to our wider community, also, I get a free hot drink, so that’s a positive.

One thing I love about parkrun is: The good physical challenge, I get quite a workout!

My most memorable parkrun moment was: Beating my personal best by 3 seconds. I felt so proud that day!

Name: Blake Prattley

Age: 15

Occupation: Student

Home parkrun: Invercargill

Number of Runs: 5

Number of times I have volunteered: 3

Fave volunteer role: So far it’s been Backup Timekeeper but I want to try all the roles before I truly pick my favourite.

I volunteer at parkrun because: Volunteering means that I’m helping people try to achieve their goals on a Saturday morning, whether it be fitness or well being. Knowing the effect I’m having on people makes sure I keep coming back to volunteer.

One thing I love about parkrun is: The good challenge that it is, including doing something on a Saturday morning instead of lying in bed.

My most memorable parkrun moment was: After not running a parkrun for two weeks, I achieved my personal best by shaving 30 seconds.
