parkrun has now made its way to six cities in Sweden, and hot on the heels from Malmö’s first event last weekend, Uppsala, Sweden’s fourth largest city, will host its debut event next month, on 5th May. Registration is now open so that you can choose Uppsala as your ‘home run’!
Uppsala is a beautiful, historic Swedish city located on the river Fyris. With two universities and less than half an hour away from Stockholm, it has a diverse and friendly population of students and locals, both from Sweden and around the World! Known for its cathedral and castle, Uppsala is surrounded by forests and a perfect place for hiking and outdoor activities.
The parkrun route is a flat course along the river, starting in Stadsträdgården, just a stone’s throw from the city centre. It’s suitable for barnvagnar, as only a short section on grass with the rest being on gravel. Easily reachable by public transport from both within and outside Uppsala, and with an ideal post-run-fika cafe just meters away, we hope that this parkrun will be a popular addition to the parkrun family.
The organising team for parkrun Uppsala is made up of a great bunch of people from both Sweden and abroad, and we’re excited to tell you that the event team has been out during the snowy months of February and March and have finalized the route, starting and finishing at the iconic Pelle Svanslös statue! Having experienced parkrun elsewhere and enjoying the community it fosters, we hope that Uppsala residents, students and visitors will have fun running, jogging and walking with us. We can’t wait to meet you!
If you would like to get involved bringing this event to Uppsala, please get in touch with the team via the Facebook page and you can also like our page to follow our progress. Of course now you can also share the Uppsala parkrun web page too.

Philippa “I have recently moved to Sweden and have been looking for opportunties to run with other people, as well as making new friends. The great thing about Parkrun is that is completely free, and perfect for a student budget”
Ellie “I loved participating in parkrun back in the UK, and when I arrived in Uppsala I thought it was the perfect location for a new one! I’m excited that parkrun is starting here and look forward to volunteering and seeing it grow”
Welcome everyone on May 5th!
