Malaysia becomes the 20th parkrun country in the world

Malaysisa pic 1

This weekend saw the first event in Malaysia, Taman Pudu Ulu parkrun, take place.

In slightly warmer and more humid conditions that we are used to here in Scandinavia, 129 runners took themselves around the course, with an early 7.30 start to avoid the heat later in the day.

74 people took part in their first ever parkrun and there were runners from Australia, Poland, Singapore, South Africa, the UK, the US and New Zealand together with the local Malaysians.

Malaysia joins Singapore as the second Asia country to have parkrun and the first event to take place in a Muslim-majority country.
