Valhalla conquering new space!

Valhalla

As we all know Valhalla is the mythical home of the Nordic Gods. Their names conjure up images of strength and valour rather like the vikings who worshipped them. Thor ( the hammer of the gods) Woden the king of the gods who gave life. And Fryjda Valhalla’s beautiful goddess.

Without wanting to sound too emotional and sentimental the team here at Valhalla parkrun Wendy, Maartin, Simon, Margaret, Derek, Ina and Pauline have been heroic in their efforts to create this new parkrun. We are all aware of last week’s sad ending but how wonderful it is that we have a new parkrun to replace the old. Thank you team for your hard work. The numbers of passionate parkrunners here this morning are a testament to your efforts. The Norse Gods were so important that we still name the days of the week after them Woden -Wednesday Thor-Thursday and Fryjda -Friday. But Saturday is named after the Greek God Saturn and Saturn is the most beautiful of the planets. Thanks to everyone involved with the creation of Valhalla, Saturdays in Pretoria are beautiful and happy again.
