Welcome TomTom

From Tim Oberg, parkrun Australia CEO

This week I’m thrilled to welcome TomTom as a new National Partner, joining Medibank, Suncorp Bank and Stockland. This partnership has been over a year in the making so it’s a great feeling to finally get it across the line!

My first experience of TomTom goes back to 2007 when I was in Munich and purchased a TomTom Navigator to guide me on a roadtrip from Germany back to the UK… no street directory required! Of course these days most of us use a mapping app on our mobile phones for navigation however one thing I have never liked doing with my phone (or an MP3 player for that matter) is running with it. So last year I got my hands on a shiny new ‘TomTom Spark Cardio + Music‘ fitness watch and I must say, I’ve been converted. It’s easy to use, light, automatically syncs with the TomTom app on my phone after each run which in turn syncs with my Strava profile.

So as a TomTom user myself, I reached out to the company to discuss potential partnership opportunities. We dipped our toe in the water with them last year (some of you might remember the competitions we ran) and this has led us to where we are today, announcing TomTom as our fourth national partner.

So what does this mean for you?

For starters, in a couple of weeks we’ll be sending you an email with a promotional code to purchase discounted TomTom products. And later in the year TomTom will start visiting some of our events where you’ll be able to test these out in a parkrun setting.

So thanks again TomTom for your support and welcome to the parkrun Australia family!
