At around 7:50am on a Saturday I say to my husband “don’t worry, we won’t be the only ones” meaning we won’t be the only ones to arrive within minutes of the parkrun start. This week I said it again, but with less conviction because each road we took was temporarily closed off. It turns out that the North Wollongong parkrun was cancelled this week but I hadn’t checked for cancellations in the weekly parkrun newsletter. Oops!
My husband and I persevered, made it to where the start line usually is and off we went. Our own unofficial parkrun. Strava tells us we did our second best times.
Funny thing is we weren’t the only parkrunners this morning, we could tell them by their smiling faces and cheerful hello as we passed each other. Looks like we weren’t the only ones who didn’t check the newsletter for cancellations!
