I really wanted to thank you guys for everything you are. Four years ago I moved out of home for the first time and was severly overweight (120kg) and very isolated living quite a distance from family and friends. When I decided to start getting healthy I heard a parkrun was starting in Tamworth Wetlands so I thought I’d challenge myself to run the whole 5km without stopping.
I usually hate fitness type exercise so only expected to do one event but I instantly fell in love with it!
18 months later I’ve got the best group of parkrun running buddies who I love and I’ve done 61 runs across 10 different events, including one each in Melbourne and Sydney.
You guys not only solved my social isolation problem, you’ve made me a happier, healthier person and for that, I’ll be eternally grateful. Thank you so much for this wonderful event!
