The parkrun Australia Ambassador Program was created in 2017 as a national support network of highly engaged and dedicated volunteers who are keen to be involved with parkrun outside of the delivery of our weekly events.

As part of our commitment to building our expertise in health and wellbeing in Australia, we are adding the role of Health & Wellbeing Ambassador to our volunteer network.

Health & Wellbeing Ambassadors will bring an in-depth knowledge of the public health benefits of parkrun and the rationale for signposting people to our events (through social prescribing) , ideally from being a qualified, public health or social care professional and/or an in depth knowledge of social prescribing. They will work closely with parkrun Australia’s Health & Wellbeing Team and alongside volunteer Health & Wellbeing Ambassadors in other parkrun countries.

This exciting opportunity is for people who are keen to:

  • Provide advice and expertise on topics related to health and wellbeing (including social prescribing), informing the development and implementation of parkrun’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to promote parkrun within the public health and social care sector at local, regional and national levels, along with relevant stakeholders such as non-governmental organisations, State and Federal Government and professional bodies.
  • Represent, and be a positive spokesperson for, parkrun at external events and in the media.
  • Join parkrun Australia’s national Health & Wellbeing Steering Group.

The full role profile can be found here.
