Australia update – 24 September

As we move through the changing landscape of state-based lockdowns and restrictions, we’re publishing an AU-specific update to keep ambassadors, event teams, parkrun communities, and landowners informed on our progress.

New South Wales

Whilst some areas of NSW have emerged from lockdown, the NSW Government have announced that these areas will continue to operate under restrictions to ensure the safety of regional communities. These restrictions include no community sport, which parkrun events are classified as under NSW regulations.

We will continue to monitor the announcements and will provide an update as soon as there is a further change to the restrictions.

parkrun events have now been reclassified to sit within “Outdoor physical recreation & sport”, as such, these settings impose a maximum of 20 participants which in turn means unfortunately parkrun events in  Victoria cannot operate until such a time this number is increased.

Australian Capital Territory

The ACT have extended their lockdown until 11:59pm on Friday 15 October, as such parkrun events in the ACT are cancelled.

Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia

All our events in these regions are open; however, please check any event’s status via their website and social media pages before attending.

If you are looking to get involved as a volunteer, please contact your local event via email or social media to help out. They would love to welcome you to the volunteer team.

If you are currently in lockdown or restrictions do not allow your local event to resume, we know it can be challenging to remain upbeat and connected to your community. If you are looking for something fun to get involved in, we encourage you to stay connected with your event online and through participation in (not)parkrun. You can access results and stats on (not)parkrun participation by event for last week in Australia here.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

New South Wales update – 25 November

We understand there may be some uncertainty in the parkrun community regarding the planned reopening of parkrun events in New South Wales.   For clarity, parkrun events can operate when NSW eases restrictions. This means, parkrun events will reopen:   When NSW reaches 95% double vaccination or 18 December 2021, whichever comes first.   Should…
