Marking milestones

JoeF

Joe is eight years old and runs at Albert College junior parkrun. He is a very dedicated parkrunner!

On Sunday 30 October, the Halloween and Dublin City Marathon weekend, Joe was the first junior to be awarded the green marathon wristband at Albert College junior parkrun.

Coincidentally, Sunday 30 October was the 22nd event at Albert College junior parkrun and Joe has attended 21 of those events.  He says he missed the first run because he hadn’t heard about parkrun yet!

We asked Joe for this thoughts on junior parkrun and some words of advice for fellow parkrunners, and we wanted to share these with you!

What do you like most about Albert College junior parkrun?

I like coming to the park and meeting my friends here.

What do you do when you come on a Sunday morning?

I play in the playground until the Run Director calls us.  I listen to the pre-run talk and do the warm-up.  Them we go to the start-line and begin the run.  After the run I usually play again in the playground.

Does your younger sister run too?

Marina is only three years old, so she usually does one lap of the course (1km) and then stops. She really likes it.

Have you ever run before?

I ran in the Great Ireland Run in the Phoenix Park in Dublin last April and really enjoyed it.

Do you have other hobbies or play other sports in your spare time?

Yes, I like Gaelic football and hurling.  I also go to swimming lessons and I started judo a few weeks ago.

Do you have any sporting heroes?

Lionel Messi – he’s a famous football player for Barcelona.

What advice would you give to other parkrunners or children who have never tried junior parkrun?

Never give up, keep going and never stop!

It’s amazing that you have attended 21 of our 22 events!

I just really love it….

Thanks Joe, and congratulations on your milestone!
