Join us on Saturday 7 March 2020, the day before International Women’s Day, in a celebration of female participation at parkruns all around the world. Why not bring along a female friend, colleague or family member and walk, jog, run or volunteer together.

Join the conversation on social media with the hashtag #IWDparkrun.

parkrun events will be showing their support by encouraging as many women and girls as possible to participate as walkers, joggers, runners and volunteers with a suggested purple dress code on the day.

Today, we are launching a special campaign aimed at addressing and breaking down many of the barriers faced by women and girls and inspiring them to come along to parkrun.

The fear of not being fit enough, of being ‘too slow’, of not having volunteered before, of coming on your own or uncertainty about what to expect are just some of the barriers that people face, especially women and girls.

The campaign will help show that parkrun is for everyone, no matter your age, background, fitness level or gender. And although #IWDparkrun is being held on one day, it is hoped that the impact will be far more long lasting!
