COVID-19 (Coronavirus) update 15 December

COVID_DEC_16_V3

Throughout the course of this year we’ve published regular updates, keeping the parkrun family as informed as possible, and sharing positive news wherever we can. Whilst some weeks it may have felt like progress has been slow, looking back on the last nine months it’s clear to see how far we have come.

On Saturday we welcomed back 13 events in Russia, and as we approach the end of 2020 we look forward to events returning in New South Wales, Australia, from this weekend, and, if things go right, events will also return to the Australian state of Victoria early in 2021.

Although, at that point there will still be much work ahead of us, we are all hopeful that as vaccines are rolled out around the world and medical treatment improves, there is light at the end of the tunnel. We know that many millions of parkrunners are currently without their local events, and we know how hard that is, but please be reassured that we are seeing progress everywhere, and the parkrun family is stronger than ever before.

This year, more than any other year, it’s been a huge privilege to witness the friendship, support, and compassion within our community, despite the desperately difficult circumstances we have all found ourselves in. We really are getting through this, together.

This will be our last global COVID-19 update of 2020, and the next update will be on Tuesday 5 January.

Wishing you all the very best for the festive season, and a happy and healthy New Year.

Tom
