COVID-19 (Coronavirus) update 13 April

COVID_APR_WEEK_NEWS

It was fantastic to see 48 junior parkrun events return in England on Sunday, with over 4,000 children crossing the finish line, of which over 1,000 were attending for the very first time. We’re immensely proud of all those event teams who successfully delivered the first parkrun events in England for 13 months, and have been both humbled and delighted by the overwhelmingly positive response from participants, teams, landowners, and the wider community.

A further 29 junior events are set to restart in England this coming Sunday, with more to follow over the coming weeks, which will bring us to over 100 live junior parkrun events in England by the end of April.

In total, with the return of junior parkrun, the weekend saw over 550 events take place, with over 64,000 people walking, jogging, running, or volunteering.

Right now, just over a quarter of all parkrun events around the world have restarted, with that figure set to increase significantly with the planned return of 5k events in England on 5 June.

We continue to monitor the situation in every other parkrun territory, and although we’re not in a position to communicate return dates anywhere else just yet, we are optimistic that in several countries the situation is rapidly changing for the better.

We are getting through this together.

A look back to Vhi’s visit to Castle Demense parkrun

It was an incredible day as Castle Demense parkrun celebrated their 5th…

It’s more than just a 5k

For Noeleen Condron parkrun is more than just a 5k on a Saturday morning. It has opened up a whole new world of walkers, joggers, runners and volunteers, who after a few weeks became her friends and parkrun family.   A friend of mine invited me to Vicarstown to try the parkrun. Up until then,…
