vhi 15 april

We are delighted to see so many of you have been taking part in (not)parkrun recently. While we are hoping we can see each of you again at your local parkrun soon, we spoke with some parkrunners who have been taking part in (not)parkrun, to find out how it has helped them during these difficult times and some of the inspiring responses we received are below. Don’t forget that it’s never too late to start your (not)parkrun journey, just visit www.parkrun.ie for more information.

Taking part in (not)parkrun over the past few months has been great, as it has provided me with focus to keep running and not let my motivation drop” – Aisling Fitzpatrick, Ballincollig parkrun

“(not)parkrun has helped me to get out and keep active during the lockdown.”  Ronan Malone, Porch Field parkrun

“It helps keep a sense of routine and really helps with both my physical and my mental health. It’s all about getting out and completing 5km – it doesn’t matter if it’s walking, jogging, or running!” Noeleen Condron, Vicarstown parkrun

“(not)parkrun has really been an absolute saviour for me during these difficult times. I can’t wait to see our community back running together again, where we all encourage each other. But for now, (not)parkrun has helped me push myself and to try and achieve a new personal best! – Orla McElhinney, St Anne’s parkrun

“(not)parkrun has helped me to maintain my running during these tough months. It has helped me stay focused, and once I started it, I couldn’t stop!” – Dave Kirwan, Wexford Racecourse parkrun

For Noeleen Condron parkrun is more than just a 5k on a Saturday morning. It has opened up a whole new world of walkers, joggers, runners and volunteers, who after a few weeks became her friends and parkrun family.   A friend of mine invited me to Vicarstown to try the parkrun. Up until then,…
