A look back to Vhi’s visit to Castle Demense parkrun

In the absence of parkrun during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are looking back at some of the events Vhi visited throughout the years as parkrun’s partner.

Back in 2018, Vhi hosted a special event at Castle Demense parkrun in Macroom, Co Cork. It was an incredible day as Castle Demense parkrun celebrated their 5th birthday. Cork ladies GAA legend and 18-time All-Ireland winner Rena Buckley joined Castle Demense parkrunners, and got the blood pumping with an energetic warm up.

The weather conditions were fantastic, which meant participants could enjoy the post-event catch up with some complimentary tea, coffee and fruit to help with that all-important recovery! Rena Buckley, is a qualified physiotherapist so she took the participants through a comprehensive stretching and cool down routine helping to ease out any tight muscles.

97 runners and walkers attended, 12 of whom were first timers and nine people recorded new personal best times!

Castle Demense parkrun gave the Vhi roadshow a warm welcome and we are hoping to see you all back at your local parkrun in the brighter days that will soon lay ahead. You can check out more images from this event here.
