PKR-27 - Eoghan Megannety

In this week’s people of parkrun entry, we hear from Eoghan Megannety from Letterkenny parkrun. He tells us all about how he got started with parkrun and his funniest parkrun moment!

 

Name: Eoghan Megannety

Occupation: School Secretary Assistant

Local parkrun: Letterkenny

 

How did you get involved in parkrun?

My Mum told me about it, it was perfect because I like walking/running with friends.

 

What do you love about parkrun?

Meeting friends, seeing how well they’re doing and also trying to beat my own personal best time (for myself).

 

Who do you participate with?

Friends I’ve made through parkrun.

 

Any parkrun milestones/achievements you would like to share?

I have completed over 100 parkruns, and received an award for going from a parkwalker to parkrunner in double quick time! My current personal best time is 23:57.

 

How has parkrun impacted positively on you?

It has given me a starting point on my fitness journey and it helps my health.

 

What have you missed most about parkrun?

Meeting up with friends!

 

What was your best parkrun experience?

Celebrating my 100th parkrun with two other men on the same day with a party.

 

What was the funniest parkrun moment?

Looking at all the parkrunners in fancy dress during Halloween!

 

What advice would you give to someone who’s never been to parkrun?

I think everybody needs to be active so it’s a good exercise and it’s great for socialising too.

 

Anything else you’d like to share?

 Thanks to parkrun I can now run half marathons!
