The inaugural St Fergal’s College junior parkrun

Last weekend on Sunday 17 July, parkrun Ireland said hello to a new junior parkrun. Thanks to Niall Coppinger, a parkrun Event Ambassador, the inaugural St. Fergal’s College junior parkrun was delivered, welcoming 20 brand new parkrunners! Here are Niall’s reflections on the day.

A delighted community in the heart of Ireland has embraced its new junior parkrun event. The perimeter path within St. Fergal’s College, Rathdowney, Co. Laois provides a perfect theatre for the weekly fun.

The excitement at the launch was a real joy to behold as all of the 20 participants were embarking on their first ever parkrun experience.

Now that the parkrun charm has been experienced, the volunteer team plan to spread the word so that it can be enjoyed by the whole region!
