October is World Mental Health Month, and we’re working with Mental Health Ireland to encourage people to think about their mental health and wellbeing throughout the five weekends in October.
Their campaign focuses on the Five Ways to Wellbeing: Connect, Get Active, Keep Learning, Take Notice and Give. This week of World Mental Health Month, our highlighted action is to get active.
Look for ways to be active everyday. Go for a walk or a run. Step outside. Cycle, play a game, garden or dance. Discover a physical activity you enjoy which suits your lifestyle and level of mobility and fitness. Research has shown being physically active can improve your mental health and wellbeing.
On Saturday, why not get active at parkrun? You can walk, jog, run or there are active volunteering roles too like tail walking, junior warm up leaders, and course checking. We have options for all abilities to get active.
