The Vhi parkrun Hero award for the month of January has been awarded to Ruth Bannon from Malahide parkrun in Dublin.

The monthly award recognises and rewards inspirational, hardworking and dedicated members of the parkrun community who embody the ethos of parkrun or have made an outstanding contribution – be they participants or volunteers.

Ruth Bannon is the parkrun Event Director for Malahide parkrun. She is there bright and early each week and is a welcoming face to participants whether it’s their first time or they’re a long time parkrunner.

Ruth’s calm demeanour and leadership really helps bring the community together. Last summer, one of the runners collapsed at the finish line having suffered a cardiac arrest. Ruth sprang to action with the defibrillator, helping to save the person’s life. Her passion and dedication to parkrun is infectious and she is a real asset to the parkrun community.

Nominate a participant or volunteer for the Vhi parkrun hero award. Alternatively, if you are a Vhi customer you can also nominate a member of the parkrun community for the award within the Vhi app. Winners will receive a €250 One4All voucher and a winner’s medal courtesy of Vhi.
