There was more youthful energy springing in Cork on 27 August with the launch of Clashduv junior parkrun. Clashduv Park is situated in the suburb of Togher and can be found here on Google Maps.
The inaugural event attracted 45 junior parkrunners who walked, jogged and ran the 2k course, with the following two events well into the 70s.
“It was great to see so many happy faces for the arrival of Clashduv junior parkrun. Watching our young members cross the finish line with beaming smiles reminded us all that the future is full of promise and potential. Here’s to many more heartwarming Clashduv junior parkruns with the incredible kids who light up our days,” says Mona El Kafsi, event director at Clashduv junior parkrun.
“2023 is proving to be a very positive year for junior activity in Cork,” says Matt Shields, Country Manager for parkrun Ireland.
“Clashduv junior parkrun is the fifth new junior parkrun in Cork since March, preceded by Nursery Drive, St Mary’s, Mallow Castle and Dromlena Lawn junior parkruns. We are also working on another in Haulbowline which we hope to have more information on soon.”

“The whole community was very supportive, from the Community Garden in Clashduv Park to the local schools and athletics club” says Mona. “Most importantly I received great support from our parkrun ambassadors in Cork and the other volunteers in the various junior parkruns in the city.”
