COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update: 22 September

On Saturday we welcomed back Cape Pembroke Lighthouse parkrun, in the Falkland Islands, and all three events in Australia’s Northern Territory, representing another positive moment in the gradual return of parkrun events around the world.

It was great to see the unofficial parkrun podcast, With Me Now, live-streaming from Nightcliff and Palmerston parkruns. If you’d like to look back on how things went, please do check out their YouTube channel.

In further positive news, this coming Saturday, parkrun events across New Zealand will return once more (with the exception of the five events in Auckland, where restrictions remain in place). And today we will be announcing that our Polish parkrun events are expected to return on Saturday 17 October.

Unfortunately, in the UK, over the last few weeks, positive tests and hospitalisations have increased and as such we are seeing a return of certain restrictions across the country. We will take time to understand any developments, before publishing a specific update this Friday to parkrunners in the UK.

Finally, it’s been clear for some time that any route through this challenge would be far from simple, and that the journey to reopening would involve many small forward steps along with some in the other direction. Nevertheless, we are getting through this, together.

Thanks for your continued parkrun passion,
