Last weekend saw many Easter Bunnies appearing at different parkruns around the country and much fun was had by all!
The second 9am start of the year, rain that stopped in time, and an extra long weekend all came together to entice 178 parkrunners down to the Botanic Garden for Dunedin’s event number 278.
A lot of visitors from across New Zealand and Australia came to enjoy our Stairs of Despair and to enjoy the hospitality of our two little Easter bunnies.
The prospect of chocolate and home baking at the finish line may have spurred on the seventeen runners who recorded PBs. Whether this was the case or not, the sheer amount of treats around the place certainly highlighted the fantastic community atmosphere that brings people back week after week.
Special mentions this week go to Ali Bui for his 50th parkrun, Keith Weatherston for his 150th (you don’t get another t-shirt until 250, but it’s still a hell of a milestone), and to the eight people who ran their first ever parkrun.
On a personal note I’d like to thank Tania and Rachael for keeping an eye on me and making sure I didn’t make a mistake on my first outing as Run Director, and the awesome team of volunteers who made it all seem so easy.

Easter Saturday, We had 207 finishers inclusive of one bunny Stew, I mean Stu, he seemed to be having a good hare day. It was an egg-cellent effort – you crack me up!
Now I can’t take full credit for my Easter puns as all my best yolks, I’ve poached!
