There were a number of Star Wars themed parkruns for May the 4th and the delightful Run Report below is from a very young volunteer from Pegasus parkrun!
May the fourth be with you!
By Petra Lamont, age 8
Today we had a star wars themed parkrun at Pegasus and it was really fun to see some cool costumes, like Darth Vader, Princess Leia and a Storm trooper and Geoff the event director dressed up as Yoda.
My friend Jackie was the run director and she was dressed up as R2-D2. I loved her R2-D2 tights and the hat she had made herself.
It was fun to watch the people go past in their costumes. Some people just had normal clothes on because they didn’t want to dress up, or they might have forgotten.
Ollie the dog was there with his Mum Jill, she wasn’t dressed up but it was her birthday and my Mum and Jackie and Caren sang happy birthday to her when she went past!
My sister Jade and my cousin Kaden ran parkrun and Jade was holding a light saber. I didn’t run or walk but I watched some of the people come across the bridge with their costumes on, and took some photos. Someone pretended to
shoot me when I took a photo of them!
I went to parkrun with my Mum and sister, Dad wasn’t there because he is away hunting. It wasn’t very cold and everyone looked really hot after the run. Simon must have been hot in his Chewbacca costume.
I was sad to hear that the man who played Chewbacca died the day before parkrun.
After parkrun we had to go quickly because I had my first game of soccer ever.
It was fun!
Thank you for that wonderful Run report Petra – Pegasus parkrun

Recently, in the middle of a cold and wet Saturday morning, regular parkrunnner Tash Vruink found herself wondering why it is that so many people get up every Saturday morning to attend parkrun. Tash tells us her thoughts… I was recently down in Christchurch staying with a friend and after I dragged her out of bed early…
