FIRSTLY ARE YOU A PARKRUN ADDICT!? YES of course! Although its more the organising side these days rather than actually running, but that’s ok!
DO ANY MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY TAKE PART IN PARKRUN? Yep! Mum and Dad are regulars. The kids aren’t quite into it yet, but they’re young…..give them time.
WHERE & WHEN WAS YOUR FIRST PARKRUN? 18/01/2014 in Melbourne, Point Cook – their very first event I believe!
TOTAL NUMBER OF PARKRUNS COMPLETED? 21
AND HOW MANY AT EAST END? 2 – I can see this doesn’t make me look like a parkrun addict haha BUT I can assure you there are many things that contribute to being an addict!
NUMBER OF DIFFERENT PARKRUN COURSES COMPLETED? 2
ANY OVERSEAS? Point Cook, Australia
APART FROM EAST END WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE PARKRUN? Definitely Point Cook, although I haven’t run any others! But this one is special for me, lots of great memories, so many laughs and wonderful friends made there. Id love to get back over there and run it again.
NUMBER OF TIMES VOLUNTEERED? 32
FAVOURITE VOLUNTEERING ROLE? Throw any of them at me, I’ll be happy as!
MOST MEMORABLE PARKRUN EXPERIENCE? I can’t pick just one, impossible! To name just a few, helping people achieve a PB/Goal and hearing so many inspirational stories, all the people I’ve been lucky enough to meet over the years and am still lucky enough to have as wonderful friends today, all the high fives and seeing big smiles on peoples faces and of course helping to bring parkrun to New Plymouth…I could go on…
DO YOU JOIN FELLOW PARKRUNNERS FOR A POST RUN COFFEE? Sure do, whenever I can. Who doesn’t love coffee & food after a run?!
PARKRUNNERS HAVE MANY VARIED CUSTOMS,
HAVE YOU EVER ….
DONE A PARKRUN PHOTO LEAP? Yes – so many times and I’ll continue to do so until my legs wont leap no more!
BAKED A PARKRUN MILESTONE CAKE? No – but surely eating one or two counts? I think I owe one with added interest!
GONE FOR A POST PARKRUN PLUNGE IN THE SEA No….don’t get any ideas Andy, it’s far too cold right now. I’m a runner not a swimmer!
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PARKRUN? It’s a great way to meet people, encourage one another, keep fit and healthy, bring us all together as a community.
ANY PARKRUN GOALS? Beat my PB – that could be a struggle though, especially with all the parkrun cakes I see in our future
HOW OFTEN DO YOU RUN? Almost every day
FAVOURITE ROUTE? Again, just one?!! I can’t choose SO it would have to be anywhere with some equally crazy company at some stupid hour of the morning for some ridiculous amount of kms
MOST MEMORABLE RUNNING EXPERIENCE?
I could honestly go on forever about all the memorable running experiences I’ve had – again SO MANY and all uniquely memorable in its own way. To sum it all up into one answer – I am forever taking it all in, wherever I am and whoever I am with and taking the time to remember and appreciate how incredibly lucky I am that my legs and body can take me to all these amazing places and that there are people who want to be there with me.
OTHER SPORTS & HOBBIES YOU ENJOY? I love watching the kids doing their thing with sports/activities, spending time with friends and family, bit of camping (although it doesn’t happen often!)
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO PEOPLE CONTEMPLATING THEIR FIRST PARKRUN? You can DO IT! You have nothing to lose and absolutely everything to gain – now give me a high five and get out there!
You may have noticed the parkrun website looks a bit different today. We had hoped to have a brand new website live by now but unfortunately, due to complications in delivery, we haven’t been able to achieve what we wanted. We haven’t changed any of the content or the structure of the site….
Chris Seymour of Queenstown parkrun, Otago, South Island talks about his love of parkrun, Queenstown and running! After moving to Queenstown from Sydney, I was surprised to not find a parkrun in this beautiful town of adventure. After learning about the great running community in Queenstown, I wanted to contribute and kick off parkrun…
