School of parkrun Class of 2020

2020-class

For the past 17 weeks, the School of parkrun has kept our young parkrunners entertained with daily tasks, covering English, Science, Geography, Maths and Art.

We have loved seeing all of our student’s work and want to say a huge congratulations to the School of parkrun class of 2020!

Each morning we’ve set a new challenge via the parkrun YouTube channel, and invited parkrunners to send us their work on social media using the hashtag #schoolofparkrun.

Tasks have included drawing an imaginary underwater parkrun, and it was full marks for this one.

We gave this piece an A* for identifying the body parts you use whilst parkrunning.

There were lots of other tasks too, including writing a description of a parkrun course for a visually impaired participant and working out how many junior parkruns would need to be completed to reach the moon!

Max worked out the distance from his local junior parkrun to Rubben parkrun in Osnabrück for his maths homework.

The School of parkrun has been kindly supported by a number of primary school teachers, who have assisted in setting the daily tasks.

To celebrate their achievements, we’ve designed the class of 2020 their very own School of parkrun certificate. Just right click and save the image, then print off and celebrate this term’s achievement (you’ll find a white printer friendly version of the certificate at the bottom of this article too!)

parkrun founder Paul Sinton-Hewitt said “it’s been wonderful to see so many people joining in with the School of parkrun and to see all of the creative work that has been shared.”

School’s out!

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) update 26 January

It’s been a relatively quiet week as, in the majority of locations in which we operate, various restrictions continue to be in force in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.   That said, it was wonderful to see more than 60,000 participants across 441 events last weekend, including more than 3,000 first timers.   News from…

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) update 19 January

On Saturday we welcomed parkrun events back across the Australian state of Victoria, in a wonderful celebration of all that we love about parkrun. In 2020 people there experienced a long and incredibly restrictive lockdown, which must have been doubly challenging as other Australian states reopened and returned to normal life.   Throughout those incredibly…
