Now that the snow has melted from the forest trails, it’s time to start making some plans for new parkrun events!
To get ready for a new parkrun, an Event team will first put on a couple of test events, to showcase the parkrun to the local community, to test the course and see that it works in terms of safety and that it’s easy to follow, and then to check out the equipment and practice the timing system before the launch day!
Here in Sweden it’s also a great way to promote parkrun and get people to understand how it works – people often don’t quite understand how the timing system works and think that there must be a catch in getting a 5km timed run every week for free – but of course there isn’t!
So first up we have Skatås parkrun in Göteborg, who will be having their first test run on Saturday 22nd April at 9.30am, the traditional parkrun start time. The meeting place will be just behind the Skatås Motionscenter. Please check out their Facebook page for more details.
And the team in Huddinge are planning the first test run event on Tuesday 25th April at 19.00. Here the meeting place is at Källbrinks IP, just outside the entrance to the running track. Again, you can follow their Facebook page where more info about this date will follow soon.
We hope to bring you news on more test runs in Malmö and one more in the Stockholm area before too long.
Then we have one more testrun that we would like to tell you all about, not too far away from here………but we have to keep it a secret for now. Exciting news about parkrun expansion to follow soon!
This weekend will be a celebration of parkrun with our ‘special day’ events taking place in Denmark on 5th June and Sweden on 6th June, in addition to our regular parkrun events on Saturday 3rd June. In Denmark 6 of our 9 events will be hosting a special event on Monday 5th June, including…
