Hello parkrunners!
Thank you all for a wonderful 2017! And it’s been a great year for parkrun in Sweden and the Nordics. We’ve gone from just the one event, Haga in Stockholm, to having seven events, across three countries, with Tampere in Finland and Tøyen in Norway also joining the parkrun family.
And it’s hard to believe that Örebro started just this April and Skatås, Huddinge and Kungsängen all after the summer, when they already all feel like well-established community events.
And we’ve gone from 1000 registered parkrunners to over 4000 in the space of 12 months. The numbers keep on growing so we must be doing something right! And thank you to everyone that has volunteered at some point during this year.
We have some amazing Run Directors and Core Teams that lead the way, but we always rely on volunteers from the communities that we create, so thank you all.
We have more events getting ready to launch before too long in 2018 – we’re planning to make some announcements around these early in the New Year.
If we at parkrun had a Christmas wish, it would be just one thing – if you enjoy parkrun, then tell others about it and help more people discover what parkrun is about and come along to our events. parkrun will be free for everyone, forever, and all of us involved in parkrun in the Nordics are volunteers.
Our reward comes from people appreciating that we put on these events, bringing people together to share the simple pleasures of physical exercise, enjoying the outdoors, meeting other people and being the best we can be.
We hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas. We will be holding events as normal on the 23rd and 30th December (depending on how the icy conditions are looking of course) and we hope to see lots of you at one of our events on these days.
Happy holidays, run safely and run happy!

You can wear anything when you join in at parkrun – a suit, shorts, jeans or even fancy dress. We want everyone to enjoy parkrun and being comfortable in what you’re wearing is crucial. If you’re going to move a lot, walk, or run you might want to consider using a sports bra. We chatted…
Welcome to our weekly photo round-up from around the Nordics. This week we have more records to celebrate – more volunteers – 263! – helped out at our events this Saturday than ever before. And 330 new people signed up to take part in parkrun this week, brilliant! Have a look at some of…
