We want you to meet some of the people running parkrun here in the Nordics. First up, Axel Walø from Tøyen parkrun in Oslo. Axel has run 71 of the 73 Tøyen parkruns to date, including 11 times as the Tail Walker. A dedicated parkrunner!
How did you first hear about parkrun?

What’s the best thing about parkrun?
Uformelt og veldig hyggelig arrangement, smilende frivillige som skaper god stemning, glade deltakere – en perfekt start på lørdagen. Og en fin løype og skikkelig god treningsøkt.
Informal and very nice event, smiling volunteers who create a good atmosphere, happy participants – a perfect start to the Saturday. And a nice route and a really good workout.
Datteren min Caroline ble med meg på Tøyen parkrun for første gang, som en ekstra gave på bursdagen min. Hun er blitt med flere ganger siden.
My daughter Caroline joined me at Tøyen parkrun for the first time, as an extra present on my birthday. She has joined several times since.
How would you convince someone who’s never been to parkrun before that they should go along and try it?
Et uhøytidelig løp, som samtidig er proft gjennomført med tidtagning og resultatliste, du løper eller går i eget tempo, kan konkurrere med deg selv og følge formutviklingen din – og ikke minst møte veldig hyggelige deltakere og frivillige
An unpretentious running event, which at the same time is professionally organised with timing and result list. You run or walk at your own pace, can compete with yourself and follow your progress – and last but not least, meet some very nice participants and volunteers.
Is there anything else you want to say about parkrun?
De frivillige på Tøyen gjør en kjempejobb og skaper masse god stemning. Kjerneteamet legger ned masse tid og innsats for oss andre, de fortjener masse skryt!
The volunteers at Tøyen do a great job and create lots of good atmosphere. The core team puts a lot of time and effort on our behalf, they deserve a lot of praise!
