Phew! June has been a busy month for our events across the Nordics. Never before have we had so many events, so many people taking part, achieving PBs and helping as volunteers. Well done to all, and thanks to every single one of you who has put on a volunteers’ vest during this month – we couldn’t have done it without you.
The fun facts are as follows:
- 5436 people took part in parkrun in June (the first time that we have had over 5000 finishers in a month)
- 705 people achieved a PB during the month
- 562 people taking part in parkrun for the first time
- 769 amazing volunteer instances during the month, to help make the parkrun magic happen
Nearly another 1000 people also registered to take part in parkrun, bringing the total of registered parkrunners to over 8,000 in Sweden and a Nordic total that is fast approaching 30,000. Welcome to the parkrun family everyone.
And of course we love seeing the success of parkrun’s growth in other ‘smaller’ parkrun territories where parkrun is starting to take hold. This month has also seen records broken in Canada, the U.S.A and Germany, where all three territories broke new attendance records in this calendar month, including Canada and Germany recording 1000 participants on a Saturday for the first time. Make sure you fit in a parkrun on holiday if you are going to a parkrun country this summer!

Later in July (probably sometime around when you are reading this newsletter) parkrunner number A6000000 will register…
If there’s one young life to have seen more than a multitude of adults, it’s Joseph Oosterhoff from Quinns Rocks parkrun in Australia.
