This week we hear from Magnus Harmander from Örebro parkrun, who has just reached the milestone of 50 parkruns – congratulations Magnus!
How did you first hear about parkrun?
I read about it in the local paper and saw it on social media.
Örebro parkrun #103

What’s your favourite things about parkrun?
That it’s free, and easy to take part in. That parkrun takes place every week right through the year. The fika afterwards. And that you can use your barcode at all parkrun events, all around the world.

And what’s the best thing about your home parkrun?
A beautiful course. A good café that’s right by the start and finish. A great community and atmosphere between the people taking part and the volunteers.

If you’ve run parkruns other than your home run, which are your favourites, and why?
It’s a lovely course around Växjö lake.

In one sentence – how would you convince someone who’s never been to parkrun before that they should go along and try it?
Everyone can take part, it’s not a race, and it’s always free.

parkrun has helped me get some continuity in my running. It’s meant that I also now run in the winter too. For me Saturday is definitely a parkrunday, either as a participant or as a volunteer.

Nordics photo round-up from 11th January

People were clearly sticking to their new year’s resolutions as we celebrated the highest ever turnout for parkrun in January in the Nordics. Volunteers setting up courses around the region were treated to an amazing sunrise, a reward for rising early perhaps! Here’s our photo round-up from across our region:   Reaching down low to…

Nothing’s going to stop our parkrun!

Kungsängen parkrun is a cosy friendly event, usually attended by 15-20 regular local parkrunners, and organised by a small dedicated team of volunteers.   It is a beautiful parkrun that first runs alongside the edge of the forest for just over 1km, before a sharp right turn plunges runners deep into the woods. Here the…
