COVID-19 (Coronavirus) update 8 December

COVID_DEC_8TH

It does feel, increasingly, like there is reason to be optimistic. After a long and difficult year there are signs that we could well return to something much more like normal life during the first half of 2021.

The news of vaccines being approved signals a clear shift in the position with regards to COVID-19. And we’re hopeful that as the vaccines get rolled out around the world, this will in time enable restrictions to be lifted, meaning that more of our events can reopen in countries where we currently remain closed.

We’re excited about events returning, this weekend, at 13 locations across Russia; another significant milestone that will see parkrun back, at least in part, in six countries around the world.

As the situation continues to improve across Australia, we are also working to support the return of events in New South Wales from 19 December. And with recent changes to restrictions in Victoria, we expect that parkrun events there aren’t too far behind. It’s truly heartening to think we could end the year with close to 300 events back up and running.

So, whilst our work isn’t yet done for this year, we do look forward optimistically to 2021, and the prospect that many more of us will be able to gather in our parks and open spaces, and share in that unique parkrun community spirit once again.

We are getting through this, together.

Thanks for your continued support,

Min #parkrunresolution
