parkrun Patrick!

Patrick 2 header

This is 9-year-old Patrick. He has been a volunteer at Tøyen parkrun in Oslo since he was 6, giving high fives to the runners. He has occasionally run as well, including several times at junior parkrun at Medina Isle Of Wight (UK). In early 2020, he decided he wanted to run parkrun every week.
Then lockdown came along, but Patrick wouldn’t let that stop him. So he and his parents have been running 5 km every Saturday morning since before (not)parkrun became an established concept. Unlike his mother who sometimes wishes she could hide under the covers on particularly wet and chilly mornings, he doesn’t give the weather any thought. He loves to wave to the red squirrels and the geese that marshal the course. He loves cracking icy puddles and finding icicles to carry on his run. He likes singing along to Michael Bublé’s “It’s a Beautiful Day”. He talks about his plans to become a run director as soon as possible.

We’re really proud of him, and want to thank him from keeping parkrun very much a part of our lives. Here he is in his new (not)parkrun club T-shirt.
