Pro:Direct Running becomes UK retail partner

After successfully helping us to provide more than 100,000 free milestone t-shirts to parkrunners over the past year, we’re pleased to announce Pro:Direct Running as our official UK retail partner.

Pro:Direct Running became the official supplier of the free parkrun milestone t-shirts in May 2018 and have since delivered a staggering 100,000 free t-shirts worldwide.

Russ Jefferys, Head of Communications at parkrun said: “In May last year, after we had experienced a period without a t-shirt supplier or solution, Pro:Direct agreed to support our plan to supply our own t-shirts, and inherited a huge historical backlog of parkrunners waiting to claim their t-shirts.

Over 10 months, their support and logistical investment has allowed us to make great strides in reducing this backlog, and new deliveries in the forthcoming weeks should see these reduced further.

With parkrun growing at a rapid rate around the world, the logistical challenge of predicting demand, on scale, and the associated cost has always caused major problems for our suppliers in the past, but by being able to work in partnership with Pro:Direct, together we have been able to supply as many milestone t-shirts in the past 10 months as we had in the previous 13 years.

Each milestone t-shirt represents a significant individual achievement of persistence and commitment – we know how much these hard-earned t-shirts are cherished by the parkrun community, which is why this partnership is so important to us, and always will be.”

As our official UK retail partner, Pro:Direct Running will be able to offer more support, and as the official online store, they will make available exclusive parkrun clothing and accessories alongside the largest choice of running footwear.

This will include the new customisable parkrun apricot t-shirts, which will be available to buy in late April 2019. With a percentage of the proceeds going back to support parkrun, anything purchased from Pro:Direct Running by parkrunners will help our mission to create a healthier, happier planet.

Paul Hooper, Category Leader, Pro:Direct Running: “As a sports retailer specialising in premium product, it was important that we stood out and committed to providing great quality, fitted performance tees for the free parkrun milestone t-shirts. It’s a privilege to be partnered with parkrun, so it was also essential that we provide a first class service that falls in line with the parkrun product.”

Pro:Direct Sport is the UK’s largest online performance sports retailer and have been online for 20 years, so they are full of passion, authentic heritage and rich family values. Their experience allows them to recognise that the online space is ever-changing and evolving, and they realise the importance of staying connected to their geographically diverse audience.

Their strong relationships with brands affords them often-exclusive access to athletes and products for unique consumer opportunities and insightful and engaging content across multiple platforms. You can find out more and shop here.
