Welcome to this month’s volunteer update. Here is some of the key information for the coming period:
1. Wheels at parkrun
Please refer to this simple checklist for guidance and the associated Support Site entries regarding Wheels at parkrun. In particular:
We have had quite an increase in Head Office enquiries around this subject recently.
2. Virtual Volunteer App Survey
We recently featured our Virtual Volunteer mobile app in the parkrun newsletter and you can read the article here.
As it’s been just over a year since the launch of the app we’d like to hear what you think about it so far. Please take a couple of minutes to complete the survey.
3. Guide vests
While we do not directly provide trained or checked guides we warmly welcome participants with Sight Loss and Visual Impairments to parkrun, and we are now in a position to provide Guide vests to event teams if required.
Since we introduced the ‘VI Guide’ role in June 2016 we have recorded a total of 9,260 instances of the role being carried out by 2,575 individuals at 590 events worldwide so far.
Please give anyone guiding a VI participant/volunteer a credit for carrying out the VI Guide role at your event.
4. Quiet signs
We are now in a position to offer double-sided Quiet Please signs to our 5k events.
We may roll this out to junior events at a later stage if interest warrants it.
5. Ambassador Recruitment
Our Ambassador Programme was created in 2013 to provide a national network of skilled and experienced volunteers who get involved outside of our weekly events and provide vital support to the UK & Ireland operations team.
If you are interested in joining the Ambassador programme, you can find out more here.
We are currently looking to recruit Ambassadors in the UK at the following locations:
