Join us for (not)parkrun. Walk, jog or run, get active and have fun!
Go it alone, invite your family, inspire your friends and encourage your neighbours. Everyone is welcome at (not)parkrun.
(not)parkrun is an alternative way for people to participate in a 5k walk, jog or run, in the absence of the usual Saturday morning events. We also recently added the facility for junior parkrunners registered to our Sunday events to get involved too and log a 2k (not)parkrun. We want to continue to support everyone to be active, social and outdoors together, in person or virtually.
So we’re delighted to introduce you to (not)parkrun!
What is (not)parkrun?
Well, it’s not parkrun. It’s not about walking, jogging, or running at your regular parkrun location, and definitely not necessarily doing so on a Saturday or a Sunday morning.
And it’s not a replacement for parkrun, or in any way planning for a ‘new normal’ where parkrun events don’t exist (we definitely will be back).
(not)parkrun is an opportunity to walk, jog, or run, on a route of your choosing, wherever you are in the world and following appropriate guidelines for physical activity wherever you’re based.
How does it work?
Simple! It’s a self declared date and and time of a walk, jog or run, that will represent your home parkrun, and appear in a results table with all other (not)parkrunners in the community.
You can record up to one (not)parkrun per day, with your best time each week included in the weekly results table.
There’s no need to re-register to take part in (not)parkrun, your existing parkrun profile will allow you to log and view your (not)parkruns.
And it doesn’t matter if you’re not already registered for parkrun, or haven’t been to a Saturday morning event before. Everyone is welcome.
We’ve already seen more than 6000 (not)parkrunners who are yet to complete an actual parkrun event, just sign up for parkrun here or if you’re already registered you can access your parkrun profile here.
There’s a simple guide and some FAQs on (not)parkrun here.
We will be back
Whilst parkrun has been suspended we’ve been finding different ways to keep the parkrun community engaged: from quizzes to the School of parkrun, Instagram and Facebook Live interviews and warm-ups on YouTube.
(not)parkrun is entirely separate to, and different from, parkrun. Participating in (not)parkrun does not count towards parkrun milestones and there are no volunteering opportunities at (not)parkrun – this is simply a walk, jog, run initiative.
parkrun will be back. In the meantime, and just for fun, we invite you to participate in (not)parkrun.
Why not?

After winning his four year long battle with throat cancer, Paul Rodgers was “out of action” and wanted to get back to working on his fitness. With the help of multiple charity organisations, he was determined to return to parkrun and focus on his recovery. My parkrun journey started back in November 2016 and it was more…
Tamara Smith discovered parkrun in 2019, introduced by an enthusiastic friend and work colleague (read Tamara’s build up to first trying parkrun here.) Since then Tamara’s parkrun barcode has taken her on many adventures across the country and beyond! My introduction into the wonderful world that is parkrun was an easy one. I was…
