Growing up with parkrun

Did you know children can volunteer at parkrun too? More than 85,000 of those aged 4-14 already have!

 

Every week we welcome tens of thousands of children to parkrun events all over the world as walkers, joggers, runners and volunteers, at both 5k parkruns and the 2k junior series.

 

Eight years old

 

Over the past 17 years, we’ve seen pocket-sized Run Directors, mini-Marshals and fledgling Tail Walkers, and there have been some truly epic warm-up routines led by youngsters at junior parkrun (you can watch some of them over on our YouTube channel).

Young people have volunteered alongside their parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles, and we know that volunteering is a wonderful way for young people to make new friends too.

Just like with 5k parkrun anyone and everyone can volunteer, there’s no experience needed and no training necessary.

Children can volunteer from age 4, as long as they’re with a responsible adult.

In fact nearly 2,000 juniors have volunteered 25 times or more and are proud members of the V25 club.
