Starting out on your fitness journey can be pretty daunting, and sifting through all the information out there can feel like an insurmountable task. Instead of adding to the noise, we want to offer you some words of wisdom from our coaches, to provide some clarity and help you on your journey.
You are the only you, and that is your superpower – Jo-Leigh
Jo-Leigh lives by this quote, and leans on it when she’s lacking in confidence. Its core message is to remember to believe in yourself, and be authentic in everything you do. No two peoples’ journeys look the same, and that’s what makes them special.
Start small – Derek
It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the big goals you set yourself at the start of your fitness journey. But, by starting small and focusing only on the task in front of you, you’ll see progress in no time. Plus, in a world where instant gratification is around every corner, starting small with new habits and routines will make them much easier to stick with over time.
One rep at a time – Carrie
Similarly to Derek’s advice, Carrie’s guides you to focus simply on the task in front of you. By breaking your goals down into “one rep at a time”, you can quickly accumulate a huge number of small wins, which helps to keep your motivation high. Keep pushing, keep focusing on that next rep, and you’ll be well on your way to reaching your goals.
Walk the walk – Natalie
Natalie swears by this piece of advice, and would never ask of someone else something she wouldn’t do herself. This phrase helps to keep you accountable to your actions, and makes sure that you’re following through on everything you’ve set out to do.
Love the process – Omar
If you love what you’re doing, you’re more likely to stick with it. Omar suggests working towards a fitness goal that gets you excited, and celebrating the wins – big or small – as you go. This way, the process will never feel like a chore, and it’ll naturally become a part of your routine.
Getting started is the hardest part – Danielle
Getting out the door for your session will always be the hardest part of the task, but once you’ve overcome that hurdle, it’s only up from there. By keeping this in mind, you’ll know that as soon as you shut your front door, the hard part’s over, and putting one foot in front of the other becomes that much easier.
All you need to do now is pick your favourite phrase, and have it on a loop whenever you’re lacking in motivation to complete a session. All it takes to see real results on your fitness journey is a small shift in your internal narrative. Once you conquer your mind, you can do just about anything.
