Happy Thanksgiving!

20191128_102243

We hope wherever you are that you are able to celebrate it with family and friends, either in person or online.

We’d normally be able to get one extra parkrun in (one of two special days per year we can run extra parkruns, the other being New Years) but we all know why that’s not possible this year.

That’s not going to going to stop us getting from into the Thanksgiving spirit however!  We can’t go running like we normally can with a parkrun, but that doesn’t stop us running altogether. Do get out if you can, and here’s some of Thanksgiving runs from previous years for some inspiration:

More turkey hats!  Leakin park parkrun didn’t hold a special Thanksgiving Day parkrun, but they did hold a ‘Friendsgiving’ parkrun two days later, for one of their largest crowds to date!

Feeling so welcomed

After a big life move, Naomi Dawson found herself in a brand new country, knowing nobody.   Local parkruns helped her integrate into new communities, and make many long-lasting friendships along the way.   I wasn’t a runner, never had been. Then, in 2013, someone told me about parkrun.   I completed the Couch to 5k programme, after…

Ten years of parkrun Poland

The first parkrun in Poland took place on 15 October 2011.   As the country celebrates its ten year parkrun anniversary, Poland’s Country Manager Jakub Fedorowicz takes us for a look back at some special moments.   Back in the autumn of 2011, when five participants arrived at the very first Polish location, parkrun Gdynia, no one…
