Depot parkrun says farewell to an incredible volunteer, and it was rained out at Durham NC but not all bad news!
This week is a bit of a rainy occasion at Durham NC parkrun but that didn’t get in the way of 21 participants enjoying their 5k. To add to the celebration of the morning, the community was lifted when they read an article in a local magazine. At the 8 year anniversary a few weeks ago the event was visited by a reporter from ‘Durham Magazine’. Heiko, one of the event’s core team, let us know of the article. Two regular parkrunners Susan and Tom Hoerger got a shout out in the editorial and they had an article about our favorite weekly Saturday morning activity in the magazine. You can check out the article here!
Depot Park parkrun recently said goodbye to a incredible volunteer. Kristen the ED wrote a farewell on the event’s social media:
“I wanted to call attention to this incredible volunteer. Phillip has been one of those volunteers that I could call on whenever I needed whatever job it was. He is so dedicated to parkrun he put off a trip home to his family to help our restart. I pasted the language I included in our run report as well as his picture.”
Thanks for your help Philip, and we will no doubt see you soon as Weedon Island parkrun!
Third Creek Greenway
Third Creek Greenway had special reason to celebrate on Saturday as they celebrated Molly Seidel’s Olympic bronze medal in the marathon and drew some inspiration on the course with some words of wisdom from the athlete.
There was some definite energy down at Charleston parkrun on Saturday, you can see yourself from these photos!
Canyon Rim Trail
Canyon Rim Trail is going from strength to strength as they introduced new first time organizers to help out on Saturday. 24 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 7 were first timers and 10 recorded new Personal Bests!
