parkrun week in pictures: July 2nd

Happy Independence Day week! There was a red, white, and blue theme across our parkrun last Saturday as we all got into the holiday spirit. Here’s our highlights from the day.

Sippo parkrun not only celebrating Independence Day but also Nancy’s 50th volunteering occasion.  Well done Nancy!

Roosevelt isladn dc

Everyone is paying very close attention to RD Stephanie giving the pre-run briefing at Roosevelt Island DC parkrun.

Riverside Park parkrun is still a very new event with event number three on Saturday.  It’s growing fast however, and this week they saw lots of locals mixing with visitors from Washington, Florida, and Australia.

Stars and Stripes out on display at Renton parkrun.

Rec Plex North

Events are always keen to fill up their volunteer roster a few weeks in advance.  Here’s a parkrunner signing up to volunteer on the whiteboard at Rec Plex North parkrun.

college park

College Park parkrun had a fun weekend having taken part in the local July 4th parade, but it’s always as much an opportunity on the Saturday for celebration and achievement.

Peace Valley

Peace Valley parkrun had milestones to celebrate and tourists in town.  Next week is a combo celebration of 50 events and the one year anniversary.  We look forward to seeing the photos!

Merrymeeting parkrun still enjoying it’s first few events in the Town of Brunswick, as it draws more people to the event.

Another great showing of Independence Day celebrations here at Mansfield OH parkrun.

A bit of creative celebration at Livonia parkrun, where the finish line was lined with small American flags

It was a sneaky tutu day on Saturday as it was the 2nd of the month in 2022.  Josh Styron here at Lillie parkrun needs little excuse to take his tutu for a parkrun!

Autumn Miller looking to inspire her own July 4th parade with a fabulous flamingo at Leakin Park parkrun.  ED Tom Hornik clearly approves!

Kensington parkrun looking very lush and green as we enjoy the summer. Gorgeous course.

Hamlet Park parkrun is becoming very popular with the local community as many return after their first Saturday morning run and walk, including Terri here on her second parkrun.

Durham NC parkrun is ten years old and still attracts a healthy amount of first timers.  It’s great that people are still learning about the event for the first time.

Depot Park3

Selfies and celebration at Depot Park parkrun as parkrunners enjoy the morning.

The numbers Courthouse Lake parkrun continue to grow as people enjoy the summer.  Saturday saw the event’s second largest attendance.

City park Iowa

City Park parkrun celebrates another record attendance as Iowa finds out about the amazing event they have every Saturday morning.

Canyon Rim Trail

Can’t get enough of those views at Canyon Rim Trail parkrun!

Scottie here at Anacostia parkrun celebrates his entry into the 50 milestone club.  Well done Scottie!

Third creek

We have artists at Third Creek Greenway parkrun and most weeks there’s some inspiring drawings and messages to keep you company as you run or walk your 5k.  Happy Fourth to you too Third Creek Greenway!

Attendance record! We blew our previous record out of the water with a whopping 2,364 finishers across 52 events, amazing! Summer really is in full swing and clearly, parkrun is the place to be on Saturday mornings. 510 super volunteers helped out around the country and we welcomed 357 parkrunners to their first ever event….

I never believed I could

There’s no need to do the 5k at parkrun. Lois Rowland was a parkrun volunteer for more than ten years before eventually deciding to have a go at the 5k, following an ectopic pregnancy.   Having now completed 50 parkruns, she tells us her story.   My husband is a keen parkrunner and has been taking…
