parkrun and World Athletics have committed to helping the Eugene and Springfield communities open parkrun events, as a legacy of the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, held in venues across both cities.
With one existing parkrun event already in Oregon, this will increase the number of opportunities for citizens and visitors of the state to be active and social in the great outdoors.
The first event from this collaboration is planned to launch in the fall, paving the way for many more across the state and beyond.
North America Territory Manager Euan Bowman said:
“We’re thrilled to be working with World Athletics to help more people be social and active outdoors within their local community. These legacy parkrun events will be beneficial to all in the Eugene and Springfield area, and we’re really looking forward to launching that first event in the fall.”
