Thanks to a once in a generation bomb cyclone that covered the US and Canada, Only 16 out of 56 parkruns in the US were able to go ahead on Saturday. Lucky for us our volunteer photographers were out in the field capturing the action. Let’s see what you were up to
The parkrunners at Bear Creek Greenbelt parkrun in Keller, TX were bundled up but showing their holiday spirit. They held North Texas’s favorite free timed 5K for the 102nd time on Christmas Eve.
America’s oldest parkrun, Livonia parkrun in Michigan, defied the brutal wind chills and held their 476th free 5K. They’ve thawed out in time to be one of our events holding an extra New Years Day parkrun this Sunday. Check here to see if your local parkrun is happening on 1/1.
Even our pals at Clermont Waterfront park in Orlando dealt with the cold snap. Temps in Central Florida hovered around the freezing mark at 7:30 on parkrunday. Way to get out there!
Santa gave the run briefing at Weedon Island Preserve parkrun in St Pete. 5 of our 16 parkruns on Saturday were held in Florida!

40 events had to cancel due to arctic temps, freezing winds and icy paths. Kensington parkrun kept the lights on for the most intrepid parkrunners in the DMV though. Nice work!
Our hardy parkrunners at Depot Park parkrun, Gainesville’s favorite free weekly timed 5K, were giving this arctic blast a big gator chomp.
We were California dreamin at parkrun USA Social HQ on Saturday so we were glad to see some sunny smiles from Byxbee parkrun in Palo Alto.
The Little Sugar Creek Greenway gang were the only North Carolina parkrun to go ahead on Saturday. They welcomed 10 runners and walkers at their 24th event.

Spindle Tree parkrun outside of Houston is about to celebrate their first year of parkrunning. They held what was easily their coldest event this past weekend, but you’d never know it judging by those smiles!
