Week in pictures: New Year’s Weekend 2023

cover

Happy new year parkrun USA! With New Year’s Day falling on a Sunday this year, we were lucky enough for two parkruns in one weekend. Saturday saw 55 events with 2,260 finishers – what a way to round out the year! Sunday was more low key with some rain across various events, giving us 880 finishers across 23 events. Whether you joined us one day, both days, as a volunteer, a finisher, a spectator, we’re glad we could be part of your 2023 memories. Let’s take a look at those photos!

It was six-year-old Bea’s first ever full 5k finish at Coler Mountain Bike Preserve parkrun down in Arkansas on Saturday. Bea was a top-notch cheerleader as well, making sure to hand out high-fives to everyone she passed. Bonus of out and back courses!

It was a little bit drizzly at Lillie parkrun on the first of the year, but that didn’t stop the smiles. Michelle, Madelyn, and Lori had a great time walking around the course together – perfect way to start the new year.

Des Moines Creek parkrun was one of the 23 events to host a New Year’s Day parkrun this year, with a great turnout. High five to everyone who showed up on either day around the country – you got it done!
