This coming Saturday will be my 1 year anniversary with parkrun. I remember my first time like it was yesterday. 5km sounded very far and that morning whilst driving there I doubted my own sanity. I did it that day in exactly 60 minutes. I was exhausted. Earlier this year I convinced one of my friends to join me. Her initial response was that she doesn’t run. My reaction to that was in my lifetime I will never run. Famous last words.
She was the first one to start running short distances and pulling me along. Last week I did it in a new PB time of 39:30. parkrun is now part of my weekly routine like brushing my teeth. In the 12 months since then I lost more than 35kg and I haven’t been this fit and well since forever.
I just want to say a BIG thank you for the team that makes it possible for so many of us to participate on a weekly basis.
We are so proud to have completed our first parkrun this morning!
