Although the course (above) at Roses parkrun may be empty, the community spirit of the parkrunners is continuing online, with the core volunteers setting weekly challenges to their parkrunners to complete and share with others.
From challenging parkrunners to complete 5km in their own gardens (pictured below) to completing a workout according to the letters of your name, the community have been joining in and sharing their photos.
We miss you parkrun!
Saturday 28 March was the first Saturday in lockdown in South Africa. That also meant Saturday with no parkrun. I measured the distance of the circumference of the house I am staying at. In order to complete 5km’s I needed to lap the house 77 times – so that’s what I did.
I even wore my parkrun wristband to really get into the swing of things. And this is my new homemade parkrun each Saturday until we can return to Golden Harvest which is the best park in Johannesburg.
