Last week I completed my 100th (not)parkrun having run my first one back in June. It has been an amazing experience – I have run some fairly fast ones and some very slow ones, I’ve run alone, with friends and family and with dogs. I’ve run on the roads in the suburbs, in the mountains and in the forests. I’ve run in the rain, the wind and the heat of summer.
For my 100th I decided to go back to my roots and so early in the morning we ran my home parkrun course – Zandvlei in Cape Town. It was wonderful to be back on my home turf after 9 months and I was joined by my biggest supporters – my wife Sharon, daughter Taryn and her boyfriend Michael, Stacey and Jason as well as Frank the Jack Russell, Bella the racing dog and Bailey the Aussie sheep dog!
Thanks for the great initiative and for keeping us interested in running and keeping fit. I’m looking forward to the next 100 and of course, the return of parkrun. Keep on running!
I love, and I enjoy parkrun. It made me who I am right now. Fitness is a central part of me. #loveparkrun
My little one started parkrun in 2017 when she was 5 years old. Since then we have continued our journey until this Pandemic stopped our parkrun. She completed her 98th parkrun and was planning to complete her 100th parkrun in March 2020. She is looking forward to 2021 when she can hopefully complete her 100th and flaunt her milestone T-shirt . She religiously went to parkrun irrespective of cold/hot/rainy weather.

On Saturday we welcomed parkrun events back across the Australian state of Victoria, in a wonderful celebration of all that we love about parkrun. Throughout those incredibly…
